Emerson College
Currently back at the hostel, we have just finished a grand tour at Emerson College. At Emerson, we were greeted with three awesome tour guides that led us through each extremely advanced facility. We even got to see what the residential halls were like. We were taken on a tour of the recently opened Piano Row building, donated by an Emerson alumni, also the creator of the popular show Will & Grace. All in all, Emerson College is an extremely advanced, stunning, and fascinating media arts college in the heart of Boston. From musical theater to all sorts of production, it was definitely a tour to remember.
Emerson
We went to Emerson college which specializes in communications and arts. We got a tour of the school, and the media facilities. It was a great oppurtunity to get insight into what it would be like to study media.

12/9/06 JUA Monday
We woke up this morning with a reluctant attitude. We were setting to adventure off into Boston and learn more about our learned topics. Excited to learn, we started to explore Boston and film our time while there today so we could document where we've been, what we've been doing, and most importantly the fun we've had. Carson and I(JPIPESSS) went with the group today and started off by going to the NPR Station. Having a great source of information given to us by our tour guide, we then went to an epic train ride finding our way around. Hoping to have great fun tommorow!!!!!
Our first experience on the T
Here's a brief video snippet of our first experience on public trans this morning: First time on the T.

90.9 WBUR
We have just taken a tour of 90.9 Wbur and it was quite the experience. From cubicles to recording studios, it was nothing short of fascinating. It is baffling to realize the many components that encompass a radio station, especially this division of NPR. The podcasting takes place within a web group, set up by popular demand. Suprisingly, we learned about the differences between public and private radio.
Jess and Ariana
We went to see NPR in Boston. It is a public radio station for the news. The man who gave us the tour was Jonathan Peck. During our tour he took us to see the studios and we learned about their ways of advertising. We got an insight to the "hecktedness" of the sound booths, and got to experience how sound-proof they really are. He explained his job and and he introduced us to other employees and what they do. We learned about how the station manages to raise money while being a non-profit organization. They raise most of their money through fundraisers, and pledges. We really enjoyed our tour and are excited to see ESPN radio.
NPR favs
Seeing the recording studio was our favorite thing we saw at Boston's NPR station, WBUR, because it gave you an insiders look at how radio gets on the air. The room is completely sound-proof, which ensures quality of sound, makes it seem like the person on the radio is right in the room with you, and keeps people focused on what they are supossed to be doing during the broadcast. Our Q/A session also gave us a lot of info about stuff we didn't talk about on the tour. We found WBUR is not only a national station, they also focus a lot on local news, and make sure they really relate to the listeners.

weeeeee!!!!
I must say waking up this morning was a interesting one. I basically had no sleep, and when my alarm woke me up, i was energetic and ready for the fun day ahead. Usually i dread waking up, becauses it's school and all, but i mean, going to Boston, thats pretty sweet. It was totally worth waking up early, just to experience the awesomeness of Boston. oh word?
